The Upper Mustang Trek offers a captivating journey through the remote and culturally rich region of Upper Mustang in Nepal. Along the trek, you will stay in teahouses or lodges in the villages. Camping may be required in some remote sections. A special permit, called the Upper Mustang Restricted Area Permit, is required for this trek. The trek is considered moderate in terms of difficulty and requires a good level of physical fitness. Proper acclimatization is essential due to the high altitude.

Day: 1: On your Arrival, Nepal Fair Step Trek’s represent will well- come to you with Garland/ Khata and transfer to Hotel.

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by the friendly team from Nepal Fair Step Trekking. They will warmly welcome you with a traditional khata (a ceremonial scarf) and a beautiful garland as a symbol of honor and respect. After the warm reception, you will be transferred to your hotel. our team will ensure that your transfer is comfortable and hassle-free, allowing you to relax and settle in after your journey.

Day :2:City Sightseeing in Kathmandu (Kathmandu Darbarsqure; historical place and visit to living Goddess Kumari, Pasupatinath and Baudhhanath; famous world heritages sites Hindu temple and Buddha Stupa) :( B)

On the second day of your visit to Nepal, we have arranged a sightseeing tour for you to explore the cultural and historical gems of the Kathmandu Valley. After breakfast, our experienced guide will accompany you to various significant landmarks and attractions in the city. Some popular places you can visit include: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple.

Additionally, this day will also be dedicated to arranging any necessary permits for your upcoming trek or adventure activities. Our team will assist you in obtaining the required permits and ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed efficiently.

Day: 3:Drive /Fly to Pokhara (800 m) Driving time: 7-8 hrs, 205 km, Hotel

Flying from Kathmandu is the fastest and most convenient way to reach Pokhara. The flight takes about 25-30 minutes. The distance between Kathmandu and Pokhara is approximately 204 km. Several airlines operate flights from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport to Pokhara’s Pokhara Airport, including Nepal Airlines, Yeti Airlines, and Buddha Air. Regular buses are available from Kathmandu’s Gongabu Bus Park to Pokhara’s Baglung Bus Park. The bus journey takes around 7 hours, and there are both deluxe and regular buses available. You can also hire a private car or taxi to travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The travel time is around 5-6 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. The road from Kathmandu to Pokhara is mostly paved, but there are some rough patches, especially during the monsoon season. It is advisable to check the weather and road conditions before traveling. The drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara offers some stunning views of the Himalayan mountains, lush valleys, and raging rivers. It is considered one of the most scenic routes in Nepal.

Day :4 :Fly to Jomosom –Trek to Kagbeni (2800 m). Walking time: 3-4 hrs, ↑250 m,↓100 m,(Overnight at tea house)

The time that takes to reach Jomson from Pokhara, it takes around 20 minutes by Plane.  You can take domestic airlines, the flights are operated by various airlines such as Yeti Airlines and Tara Air. Once you arrive in Jomsom, you can start your trek toward Kagbeni. The trek is about 21 km long and takes about 7-8 hours to complete. The trail passes through beautiful landscapes, including desert-like terrain and lush green valleys, as well as several traditional Mustang villages. Kagbeni is located at an altitude of 2,810 m and is a popular destination for trekkers. The village is known for its unique culture, traditional architecture, and stunning views of the mountains, including Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri. There are several teahouses and lodges along the trekking trail, where you can stay and have meals. The accommodation options are very, lush green valleys, and comfortable, and the food options include traditional Nepali dishes.

Day :5:Trek Kagbani - Chaile (3050 m).Walking time: 6 hrs, ↑ 530 m↓180 m (Overnight at tea house)

The distance between Kagbeni to Chile is about 16 km. Early in the morning start your trek from Kagbeni, a small town in the Mustang district of Nepal. Walk towards the Kali Gandaki River and cross the suspension bridge. You will see beautiful landscapes and mountains as you walk. Walk along the Kali Gandaki River, and enjoy the beautiful views of the Nilgiri and Tilicho peaks. You will pass through several small villages, such as Tangbe and Chhusang, where you can see the traditional mud houses. After walking for around 4-5 hours, you will reach the village of Chele. You can have lunch here. After lunch, you can explore the village of Chele, which has beautiful monasteries and ancient Tibetan architecture. In the evening, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset view over the mountains.

Day:6:Trek Chele -Syanbochen (3820 m).Walking time: 6-7 hrs,↑1020 m,↓270 m ,(Over night at tea house)

Wake up early in the morning and enjoy the beautiful sunrise in the Himalayas with a cup of tea or coffee. Enjoy breakfast at your teahouse in Chele. Popular options include Tibetan bread, omelets, and porridge. Start your trek to Syanbochen, which is about 13 kilometers from Chele. The trail passes through several beautiful villages, including Samar, where you can visit the local monastery and see some ancient Buddhist paintings. Continue your trek through beautiful landscapes of rocky canyons and lush green valleys, until you reach the village of Bhaisi Kharka. This is a great spot to take a rest and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains. Stop for lunch at a teahouse in Bhaisi Kharka. Enjoy a bowl of hot soup or a plate of momos, along with some tea or coffee. Continue your trek towards Syanbochen, passing through the beautiful pine forests of Rangjung Cave. This is a great spot to take a break and explore the cave, which is filled with interesting rock formations and Buddhist shrines. Arrive in Syanbochen During these treks, you can enjoy various activities such as visiting ancient monasteries, exploring traditional Mustang villages, witnessing panoramic mountain views, and experiencing the unique culture and lifestyle of the local people.

Day:7:Trek Syangboche-Ghami (3520 m).Walking time: 5 hrs, ↑540 m, ↓810 m (Overnight at tea house)

Start hiking early in the morning so that you can reach your destination faster. The trek from Syanbochen to Ghami can take around 6-7 hours. Along the trail, you will come across several small villages where you can interact with the locals and learn about their culture and traditions. You can also visit monasteries and temples. You can try out local food at the teahouses along the trail. Popular dishes include dal bhat momos and thukpa. You can try local butter tea. it is good for health better than sugar black tea. The trail from Syanbochen to Ghami involves some steep ascents and descents, it’s a challenging trek. However, it also offers a unique opportunity to experience the rugged terrain.

Day:8:Trek Ghami - Tsarang (3560 m).Walking time: 5 hrs, ↑350 m, ↓400 m (Overnight at tea house)

You can start early in the morning and hike to Lo Manthang, which is the capital of the former Mustang Kingdom. The hike will take around 6-7 hours, and you’ll pass through beautiful landscapes, small villages, and monasteries along the way. It is a popular trekking route that offers stunning views of the Himalayas, as well as a chance to experience the unique culture and lifestyle of the people living in this area. You can visit Chhoser Cave a famous cave located about 2 hours away from Lo Manthang. The cave is believed to be around 2500 years old and has ancient wall paintings and carvings. If you prefer a more relaxed day, you can go horse riding in the beautiful Mustang region. You can hire a horse and a guide in Lo Manthang and explore the surrounding hills and valleys.

Day:9:Trek Tsarang - Lo Mangtang (3800 m) 4-5 hrs,↑480 m,↓210 m( Overnight at tea house)

The distance between Tsarang and Lo Manthang is about 18 km. The total ascent, of the trek from Tsarang to Lo Manthang, involves an ascent of around 400 m and a descent of around 200 m. However, the actual ascent and descent may depend on the specific route taken and the terrain conditions. Tsarang and Lo Manthang are home to some of the most beautiful palaces and monasteries in Nepal. The Tsarang Palace and the Lo Manthang Palace are two of the most popular tourist attractions in the region. You can explore the complicated details of the palaces and learn about the rich history of the Mustang. Jhong Cave is one of the largest caves in Nepal and is located just outside of  

Tsarang. Visitors can take a short hike to the cave and explore its tunnels. You can enjoy Nepali and Tibetan cuisines like momo, thukpa, alu paratha, and yak meat which are widely available in restaurants in Tsarang and Lo Manthang. Mustang is famous for its handicrafts, including pottery, weaving, and woodcarving. Visitors can shop for these handmade items in local stores and support the local economy. You can shop for the best handicraft, which you like most. Mustang is known for its vibrant festivals, and if you are lucky enough to be in Lo Manthang during a festival, it is an experience not to be missed. The Tiji Festival and Yartung Festival are two of the most popular festivals in Mustang.

Day:10 :Explore Lo-Manthang (Overnight at tea house)

The Royal Palace is the most prominent landmark in Lo Manthang, and it is a must-see attraction. The palace is a beautiful example of traditional Mustang architecture, with intricate artwork and decoration. Visitors can explore the palace grounds and learn about the history and culture of the region. The Royal Palace Museum is one of the main attractions of Lo Manthang. The palace was built in the 14th century and is a fine example of traditional Mustang architecture. The museum houses a collection of ancient artifacts, including statues, paintings, and traditional costumes. The walled city of Lo Manthang is one of the few remaining medieval cities in the world. The walls are made of mud and stone and are around 7 meters tall. You can take a walk along the walls and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayas. Lo Manthang is home to several ancient monasteries, including the Jampa Lhakhang, Thubchen Gompa, and Chodey Gompa. These monasteries are significant religious sites and are adorned with colorful murals and intricate carvings. he weekly market in Lo Manthang is a bustling affair where locals gather to buy and sell goods. You can browse through the various stalls selling local handicrafts, textiles, and jewelry.

Day:11 :Trek Lo-Manthang -Yara (3550 m).Walking time : 6 hrs,↑ 650 m↓ 800 m.(Overnight at tea house)

The trek from Lo Manthang to Yara takes around 4-5 hours, so it’s best to start early in the morning. The trek from Lo Manthang to Yara takes you through some of the most scenic landscapes in the Mustang region. You’ll pass through barren hills, deep gorges, and ancient caves. Take the time to appreciate the stunning beauty of the surroundings. Yara is a small village located on a hilltop with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. You can explore the village and visit the local monastery, which is home to some ancient Buddhist artifacts. The Luri Cave Monastery is an ancient Buddhist site located near Yara. The monastery is built inside a cave and features some stunning frescoes and carvings. You can hire a local guide to take you to the monastery. There are several teahouses along the trekking trail from Lo Manthang to Yara where you can stop for a hot meal. Try the local cuisine, which includes thukpa (noodle soup), momos (dumplings), and yak meat dishes. Yara is a great place to watch the sunset over the mountains. You can climb to the hilltop near the village and enjoy the stunning views.

Day:12: Trek yara- Dhechyang Khola to Tangge (3550 m).Walking time : 6 hrs,↑ 650 m ↓ 800 m.(Overnight at tea house)

Yara is a picturesque village located in the Yara-Dhechyang Khola region. The village is surrounded by high mountains. And it is known for its traditional architecture, culture, and lifestyle. The trek is relatively easy and takes around 5-6 hours to reach Dhechyang khola. You can take a walk around the village, interact with the locals, and learn about their way of life. Along the way, you can enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, cross suspension bridges over rivers, and interact with the locals. The trail after crossing the river is uphill and can be challenging, so take your time and walk at your own pace. After a few hours of uphill trekking, you’ll reach Tangge, a small village that is the endpoint of this trek. Enjoy the scenic views of the Himalayas from Tangge and take a break You can also try the local food of that place some Nepali typical cuisine such as momo, Dal Bhat, thukpa, yak meat, etc. The trail after crossing the river is uphill and can be challenging, so take your time and walk at your own pace.

Day:13:Trek Tangge to Paha (2980 m).Walking time: 9-10 hrs,↑ 1050 m↓ 1500 m,(Overnight at tea house )

Trekking from Tangge is about and takes approximately 5-6 hours to complete. Tangge is a small village located in the Upper Mustang region of Nepal. The trek starts from Tangge and initially follows a relatively flat path. The trail takes you through the Kali Gandaki Gorge, which is one of the deepest gorges in the world. You’ll get to see the beautiful landscapes and experience the natural beauty of the region. After walking for approximately 5-6 hours, you’ll reach Paha, a small village that is the endpoint of this trek. Paha is located at an altitude of 3,080 meters and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Take some time to take a rest and explore the village and communicate with the locals. You can also visit the nearby monasteries and gompas to learn more about the culture and traditions of the region.

Day:14: Trek Paha to Chhusang (4070 m) -Muktinath(3700 m).Walking time : 6-7 hrs,↑1200 m,↓400 m ( Overnight at tea house)

Start your trip early in the morning after having a cup of tea and breakfast. Today is the day you should walk toward Chhusang. Paha is a small village with beautiful traditions and culture and with a beautiful panoramic view. After walking for about 2-3 hours, you’ll reach the Dajori La Pass, which is located at an altitude of 3,735 meters. Cross the pass and continue on the other side. The trail after crossing the pass is downhill and takes you through the beautiful landscapes of the region. You’ll pass through small villages and traditional farms before reaching Chhusang. Chhusang is a small village located on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River. Take some time to explore the village and try to communicate with the local people. You can also visit the nearby monasteries and gompas to learn more about the culture and traditions of the region.

Day:15 :Trek Chhusang to Gyu la – Muktinath (2720 m)Walking time : 5-6 hrs, ↑200 m,↓1000 m( Overnight at tea house)

The trek starts from Chhusang and initially follows a relatively flat path. After walking for about 1-2 hours, you’ll reach the Kali Gandaki River. Cross the river using a suspension bridge and continue on the other side. The trail after crossing the river is uphill and can be challenging, so take your time and walk at your own pace. You’ll pass through small villages and traditional farms before reaching Gyu La. Gyu La is a mountain pass located at an altitude of 4,077 meters. It offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Take some time to enjoy the views and take pictures before heading back. You can explore Muktinath, which is known for its ancient temples and natural hot springs. Take a dip in the hot springs, which are believed to have healing properties, and visit the famous Muktinath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. After an hour of spending in Muktinath, you can take a side trip to the Jwala Mai Temple, which is located near Muktinath. This temple is dedicated to the goddess of fire and has a natural gas flame that burns continuously from a spring. The flame is said to have been burning for over a thousand years and is considered to be a miracle.

Day:16 : Trek Muktinath to Jomson

Start early in the morning and trek from Muktinath to Jomsom. The trek is relatively easy, and you will pass through several small villages, including Kagbeni and Ekle Bhatti. These villages are known for their traditional architecture and unique culture. Visit the Thini Village, which is located just outside of Jomsom. This village is known for its apple orchards and traditional architecture. You can also visit the Thini Gompa, a small monastery that offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. You can Visit the Jomsom Bazaar, which is a bustling market that offers a variety of goods, including traditional handicrafts and local food. You can also visit the Jomsom Museum, which showcases the history and culture of the Mustang region. There are several lodges and guesthouses in the area that offer basic accommodation and food. You can also enjoy a cup of traditional tea and watch the sunset over the mountains.

Day:17 : Fly to Pokhara- drive to Kathmandu

Make sure to check the flight schedules in advance and book your tickets accordingly. Flights from Jomsom to Pokhara are subject to weather conditions and may be canceled or delayed, so it’s best to have some flexibility in your schedule. From Jomsom, you can either walk or take a jeep to the Jomsom airport, which is located just outside the town. The walk takes about 20-30 minutes, while the jeep ride takes around 10-15 minutes. Once you arrive at the airport, check in for your flight and go through security. Remember to keep your passport and ticket handy. Board your flight and enjoy the scenic 20-25-minute flight back to Pokhara. The flight takes you over the mountains and provides stunning views of the Himalayan range. After arriving in Pokhara you can hire a private car or take a tourist bus from Pokhara to Kathmandu. The drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu takes around 6-7 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Along the way, you will pass through scenic countryside, small towns, and villages. You will also see beautiful views of the Himalayan range. There are several places to stop for a break and to stretch your legs, including roadside cafes and restaurants. Once you arrive in Kathmandu, your driver will drop you off at your accommodation or a designated drop-off point in the city.

Day:18: Leisure (If would like to shorter the trek you may depart this day) day in Kathmandu.

Kathmandu is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the famous Durbar Squares in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan. These ancient palaces, temples, and courtyards offer a glimpse into Nepal’s rich history and culture. Kathmandu is a shopper’s paradise, with a wide variety of colorful and bustling markets selling everything from handicrafts to spices. Some popular markets include Asan Bazaar, Thamel, and Ason Tole. After trekking, your body may be in need of some pampering. Kathmandu has several spas and massage centers where you can relax. Kathmandu has a vibrant cultural scene, with regular performances of traditional dance and music. Check with your hotel or a local tour operator for recommendations on where to see a show.

Day 19Departure to International Airport

Make sure you have your flight details handy and double-check the departure time and terminal of your flight. Also, check the baggage allowance and other details related to your flight. If you have any Nepalese rupees left, you can exchange it for your home currency at the airport or at one of the currency exchange counters in the city. Make sure you have your passport, visa, and other relevant documents ready for immigration.
