Makalu Base Camp Trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal, which takes you to the base of the fifth-highest mountain in the world, Makalu (8,481 meters). The trek is a perfect blend of scenic beauty, cultural immersion, and adventure. There are several teahouses along the trekking route that offer accommodation and meals to trekkers. The trek usually starts from Tumlingtar, which is accessible by a short domestic flight from Kathmandu. From Tumlingtar, the trail passes through lush forests, remote villages, and high mountain passes before reaching the base camp of Makalu.
The teahouses along the route are basic, yet comfortable. They usually offer simple but delicious Nepali and Tibetan meals, such as dal bhat (rice, lentil soup, and vegetables), momos (dumplings), and thukpa (noodle soup). The teahouses also provide hot showers and charging facilities for electronic devices, but these may come at an additional cost.As with all treks in Nepal, it is advisable to bring your own sleeping bag and trekking gear. It’s also recommended to carry some cash, as there are no ATMs or banks along the trekking route.
Overall, the Makalu Base Camp teahouse trek is a rewarding and unforgettable experience that combines stunning natural beauty with cultural immersion and adventure. For more information contact us at info@fairsteptrekking.com
