Khopra Danda is a relatively new trekking route in the Annapurna region. It is the most scenic and virgin short trek that offers beautiful views of the Himalayas, an impressive mountain landscape, and graded as an easy to moderate trek. The trail goes up and down and reaches the maximum altitude at Khayer Lake (4660 m). From the Khopra ridge (in the Nepali language- danda), one can enjoy a close-up view of Mt Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri. Up to Ghorepani, you will get good tea houses/ lodges. After Swanta Village, there are only a few guesthouses, run by the local community that serve basic food (Dal-Bhat, Sabji) to trekkers. This short trek, at first, passes through the popular Ghorepani-Poonhill trail, and then on the second phase of the trek, we climb to the buttresses of Annapurna South, avoiding the crowd. Khopra Danda Trek is a great choice for those who want to do a week-long trek on a little off the beaten path that takes down into the valley north of Ghorepani before climbing up Khopra Ridge. During the trek, you will enjoy the warm hospitality of the locals, step foot on many photographic spots and enjoy the mountain views.
