Ghorepani Trekking, also known as Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, is one of the well-known short and easy treks among the frequent and first-time trekkers to stay close to nature and want to experience local culture of Nepal without involving in severe ascents. We do not take necessary precautions regarding altitude sickness while trekking to Ghorepani Poon Hill.
We begin the journey after a one-hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and then gently hike to Tikhedhunga village (1540m), having enjoyed the splendid hill landscape of western Nepal on the way. As you leave Nayapul, you will walk along the Modi River passing through forest of rhododendron and reach Tirkhedhunga village. Next day we continue our walk climbing about 2hrs uphill through Ulleri and Banthanti villages and reach the top of Nangethanti Hill. Then, you will walk down from Nangethati to Ghorepani and stay overnight at lodge. After waking up at the break of dawn and we hike to Poon hill to enjoy sunrise view over the Himalayan Mountains as well as immerse in the mesmerizing views of mountain such as Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South(7219m), Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail) (6997m), Manaslu and other snow- clad peaks.
From Poon hill, you gently descend to lodge and have breakfast. Then, we further descend to Ghandruk village which is a very popular traditional village of Gurung ethnic group of people where you can experience their age- old traditions and culture and interact with the local folks. After overnight at Ghandruk village you will follow the same route to Nayapul and board on a vehicle. You will come across many fellow trekkers all along the way while trekking.
This trek especially has a 7-day itinerary, but you can make your Itinerary as per your desire, interests, budget, and time frame. As this trek is short and easy, anyone can join it and explore exotic local cultures and enjoy the views of enthralling mountains that too, in a short period! The best time to do Ghorepani Poon-Hill trek is Spring (March- May) and Autumn (Oct.-Nov.). The blooming of Rhododendron starts in March. The trails can get muddy and slippery in monsoon or when the snow melts during early spring.

On the second day of your visit to Nepal, we have arranged a sightseeing tour for you to explore the cultural and historical gems of the Kathmandu Valley. After breakfast, our experienced guide will accompany you to various significant landmarks and attractions in the city. Some popular places you can visit include: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple.
Additionally, this day will also be dedicated to arranging any necessary permits for your upcoming trek or adventure activities. Our team will assist you in obtaining the required permits and ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed efficiently.
If you want to drive to Pokhara, you can take a private vehicle or hire a taxi from Kathmandu or other major cities in Nepal. The distance between Kathmandu and Pokhara is around 200 km and it takes around 6-7 hours to reach Pokhara by road, depending on traffic and road conditions. Alternatively, you can also fly to Pokhara from Kathmandu or other major cities in Nepal. The flight takes around 25-30 minutes and is operated by several airlines such as Yeti Airlines, Buddha Air, and Nepal Airlines. You can enjoy the scenic beauty of the river and other attractive hills while traveling. The Pokhara airport is located around 3 km from the city center and you can take a taxi or hire a private vehicle to reach your destination or the hotel your agency booked.
To drive to Hile, which is the starting point of the Birthrate trek, you can take a private vehicle or hire a taxi from Pokhara. The distance between Pokhara and Hile is around 60 km and it takes around 3-4 hours to reach there by road, depending on traffic and road conditions. The route from Pokhara to Hile goes through Nayapul, which is the main entry point to the Annapurna Conservation Area. From Nayapul, you will need to obtain the necessary permits and then continue driving towards Birethanti, which is a small town located at the confluence of the Bhurungdi Khola and the Modi Khola rivers. From there, you will need to drive towards Tikhedhunga and then to Hile, which is located at an elevation of around 1,490 meters
The Birthrate trek is a popular trekking route that takes you through beautiful villages, forests, and farmland, offering stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. It usually takes 6-7 days to complete the trek, with overnight stays in teahouses or lodges. The trek involves some steep climbs and descents, so it’s important to be physically fit and prepared for the trek.
Trekking to Ghorepani from Nayapul is a popular trekking route in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The trek takes you through picturesque villages, terraced fields, and lush forests, and offers stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The trek starts from Nayapul, which is about an hour and a half drive from Pokhara. From Nayapul, you will trek through several villages including Tikhedhunga, Ulleri, Banthanti, and Nangethanti before reaching Ghorepani.
The trail is well-marked and relatively easy to follow, although there are some steep sections with stairs. The highest point on the trek is Poon Hill (3,210m), which offers stunning views of the sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The best time to trek to Ghorepani is from March to May and September to December. During these months, the weather is generally clear, and the views of the mountains are spectacular. However, it’s important to note that the weather can be unpredictable in the mountains, so it’s always a good idea to be prepared for all conditions.
Trekking from Ghorepani to Tadapani via Poon Hill is another popular route in the local culture. The trek starts from Ghorepani, where you will wake up early in the morning to hike up to Poon Hill (3,210m) to catch the sunrise. From Poon Hill, you can enjoy panoramic views of the mountains, including Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. After returning to Ghorepani for breakfast, you will then continue on to Tadapani. The trail is well-marked and takes the Annapurna region of Nepal. This trek offers stunning panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges and the opportunity to explore traditional villages and le you through rhododendron forests, charming villages, and terraced fields. Tadapani is located at an altitude of 2,630m and offers stunning views of the Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre mountains.
The trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani via Poon Hill is a moderate-level trek that can be completed in about 3-4 days. The best time to trek to Poon Hill is from March to May and September to December when the weather is generally clear, and the views of the mountains are spectacular.
The trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli. Take the time to soak in the scenery and appreciate the beauty of the mountains. Along the trek, you will pass through several small villages. Take the opportunity to explore these communities and learn about their culture and way of life. You can also purchase local handicrafts and souvenirs. The trek passes through the Annapurna Conservation Area, which is home to a variety of flora and fauna. Take a guided tour of the conservation area to learn about the local plants and animals, including the elusive snow leopard. Nepali cuisine is diverse and delicious. Try local dishes such as momos (dumplings), dal bhat (lentil soup and rice), and chow mein (stir-fried noodles). You can also sample local tea and coffee. Ghandruk is a charming village with narrow streets, traditional houses, and stunning views of the mountains. Take a leisurely walk through the village and explore its cultural sites, such as the Gurung Museum and the ancient Ghandruk Fort. Jhinu is a small village located a short distance from Ghandruk. You can relax in the natural hot springs and enjoy the stunning mountain views here.
