Everest High Passes Trek takes us through the most challenging high passes in the Everest Region. It offers the thrill of adventure to those who want to fulfil the ultimate goal by crossing & climbing the highest passes of the region known as the Kongma La (5,535 m), Cho La (5,420 m) and Renjo La (5,340 m) all lies in the Khumbu zone. On this trek all popular trails are included such as Everest Base Camp, the Kalapathar (Black Rock) and the tranquil Gokyo valley with its emerald lakes. One can have the stunning views of the mountains like-Lhotse, Nuptse, Baruntse, AmaDablam and Makalu from all these high passes. After Gokyo valley, we walk down to Thame through grazing pastures.
From Kathmandu, we take a scenic flight to Lukla & follow the normal Everest trail through DudhKoshi, Sagarmatha National Park, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche up to high passes enjoying the spectacular view of Everest, AmaDablam, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse& many other popular peaks.
One can fulfil his/her dream of trekking and climbing to the highest place on earth in this trek. Besides, the trek provides the thrill of adventure and widens their experience towards the peak climbing expedition beyond trekking in Nepal. A short day trek from Thame to Namche Bazaar, we follow the earlier trail to Lukla & then we conclude our trip by flying back to Kathmandu.
Everest High Passes Trek also offers amazing cultural aspects, traditions, and hospitality of the Sherpa communities who have been living in the region since time immemorial. The ancient village of Thame is home to one of the biggest monasteries in the Khumbu & offers some of the best Himalayan views in the world.

Arrive in Kathmandu. Transfer to your hotel, rest, and prepare for the trek. You may explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, a popular tourist area.
City sightseeing in Kathmandu includes visits to Kathmandu Durbar Square, where you can see historical temples and the living goddess Kumari. You can also explore Pashupatinath Temple, a major Hindu pilgrimage site, and visit Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world. These sites offer rich cultural and religious experiences in Kathmandu.
On the first day of your Everest Three Passes trek, you will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, which is situated at an altitude of 2,800 meters. From Lukla, you will begin your trek towards Phakding, located at an elevation of 2,610 meters. The estimated walking time for this leg of the journey is approximately 3 hours. During this time, you will ascend about 100 meters and descend around 250 meters.
On the second day of your trek, you will leave Phakding and continue towards Namche Bazaar. The route will take you through Manjo, which is located at an altitude of 2,800 meters. From Manjo, you will ascend towards Namche Bazaar. The estimated walking time for this segment is approximately 6 hours. During this time, you will ascend about 950 meters and descend around 100 meters.
On this day, you will hike from Namche Bazaar to Khumjung, situated at an altitude of 3,780 meters. The estimated walking time for this portion of the trek is approximately 5 hours. During this time, you will ascend about 350 meters and descend around 350 meters. You will then return to Namche Bazaar.
From Namche Bazaar, you will trek to Thame, located at an altitude of 3,800 meters. The walking time for this segment is approximately 5 hours. During this time, you will ascend around 600 meters and descend about 250 meters.
From Thame, you will trek to Lungden, situated at an altitude of 4,368 meters. The estimated walking time for this leg of the journey is approximately 4-5 hours. During this time, you will ascend around 560 meters and descend about 60 meters.
From Lungden, you will embark on a challenging trek towards Renjo La Pass at an elevation of 5,360 meters. The estimated walking time for this section is around 6-7 hours. During this time, you will ascend approximately 1,010 meters to reach the pass and then descend about 590 meters to Gokyo, situated at an altitude of 4,790 meters. The trek offers stunning mountain views.
In Gokyo, you will have a day to explore and acclimatize to the high altitude. One popular option is to embark on a day hike to the fifth lake. The fifth lake is a beautiful glacial lake located in the vicinity of Gokyo. It offers mesmerizing views of the surrounding peaks, including Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, and Mount Everest. This day hike will allow you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Gokyo region.
Trek from Gokyo to Gokyo Ri, which stands at 5,360 meters. The walking time is approximately 7 hours, with an ascent of 600 meters and a descent of 670 meters. After enjoying the panoramic views, descend to Dragnag at 4,690 meters.
From Dragnag, you will embark on a challenging trek towards Cho La Pass, situated at an altitude of 5,420 meters. The estimated walking time for this segment is around 7 hours. During this time, you will ascend approximately 730 meters to reach the pass and then descend about 600 meters to Dzonglha, located at an elevation of 4,850 meters. This portion of the trek requires careful navigation through rocky terrain and may involve some steep sections.
From Dzonglha, you will trek to Gorak Shep, situated at an altitude of 5,140 meters. The estimated walking time for this leg of the journey is approximately 6 hours. During this time, you will ascend around 510 meters to reach Gorak Shep and then descend about 200 meters. Gorak Shep serves as a base for exploring Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar.
To hike to Kala Patthar from Gorak Shep, you can expect a walking time of approximately 3 hours. The trail involves an ascent of around 450 meters to reach the summit of Kala Patthar, which stands at an altitude of approximately 5,545 meters. From there, you will descend back to Gorak Shep, covering a descent of 450 meters. Kala Patthar offers breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Everest and the surrounding Himalayan peaks, making it a popular spot for trekkers.
From Gorak Shep, you will trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC), located at an altitude of 5,364 meters. The estimated walking time for this portion is approximately 7-8 hours. During this time, you will have a slight ascent of around 250 meters to reach EBC, where climbers gather to embark on their journey to the summit of Mount Everest. After spending some time at the iconic base camp, you will descend about 490 meters to Lobuche, situated at an elevation of 4,910 meters.
From Lobuche, you will embark on a challenging trek towards Kongma La Pass, which stands at an altitude of 5,535 meters. The estimated walking time for this segment is approximately 6-7 hours. During this time, you will ascend around 825 meters to reach the pass and then descend about 965 meters to Chhukung, situated at an elevation of 4,730 meters. Kongma La Pass offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and requires careful navigation through rocky and icy terrain. Breakfast (B), lunch (L), and dinner (D) will be provided during this day of the trek.
From Chhukung, you will trek to Dibuche, situated at an altitude of 3,710 meters. The estimated walking time for this leg of the journey is approximately 5-6 hours. During this time, you will ascend about 1,020 meters and descend around 100 meters. The trail offers beautiful landscapes and panoramic views of the Himalayas. Dibuche is a small village located in the Khumbu region and is known for its monastery.
From Deboche, you will trek to Tengboche, situated at an altitude of 3,860 meters. The estimated walking time for this segment is approximately 5 hours. During this time, you will ascend around 400 meters. Tengboche is home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, a significant Buddhist monastery in the Everest region. After exploring Tengboche, you will continue your trek back to Namche Bazaar.
From Namche Bazaar, you will trek back to Lukla, which is situated at an altitude of 2,800 meters. The estimated walking time for this leg of the journey is approximately 7-8 hours. During this time, you will have a slight ascent of around 250 meters but a significant descent of about 1,050 meters as you make your way back to Lukla. This part of the trek offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes. Once you reach Lukla, you can celebrate the completion of your Everest Three Passes trek.
After reaching Lukla, you will take a flight back to Kathmandu. The flight duration from Lukla to Kathmandu is approximately 30-35 minutes, offering scenic views of the Himalayan region. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure to relax and rest after the trek. Breakfast is included for this day.
During your leisure day in Kathmandu, you have the freedom to explore and enjoy the city at your own pace. You can take this opportunity to visit additional cultural and historical sites in Kathmandu, such as Swayambhunath Stupa, Patan Durbar Square, or Bhaktapur Durbar Square. You may also choose to indulge in some shopping for local handicrafts and souvenirs in the bustling markets of Thamel.
On your departure day, you will be transferred from your hotel in Kathmandu to the international airport. The transfer will be arranged according to your flight schedule, ensuring that you reach the airport in time for your departure. From there, you can proceed with the necessary check-in procedures and board your international flight. Please make sure to double-check your flight details and allow sufficient time for any immigration or security processes at the airport.
