Tour Details

The Chepang Hills Trek is a unique and culturally rich trekking experience in Nepal. Here are some tour details for the Chepang Hills Trek:The duration of the trek can vary, but typically it takes around 6 to 8 days to complete the Chepang Hills Trek. The trek usually starts from Hugdi Khola, which is approximately 80 kilometers southwest of Kathmandu. From there, you will trek through the Chepang villages of Hatti Bang, Jyandala, Gadi, and Saktikhor, among others. The route offers stunning views of the surrounding hills, forests, and valleys.

For the Chepang Hills Trek, you will need the Shivapuri-Nagarjun National Park entry permit, as parts of the trek pass through the national park. Additionally, a TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card may be required. It is advisable to check the latest permit requirements before your trip. Along the trekking route, there are basic teahouses and homestays available for accommodation. These provide simple yet comfortable lodging options, and some even offer traditional meals prepared by the Chepang communities. Sleeping bags are recommended for added comfort.

The Chepang Hills Trek is considered a moderate trek, suitable for most fitness levels. However, it does involve some uphill and downhill sections, so a reasonable level of physical fitness is recommended. The Chepang people are an indigenous community with a unique culture and lifestyle. During the trek, you will have the opportunity to interact with the Chepang villagers, learn about their traditions, and experience their warm hospitality. You may also witness cultural performances, taste traditional food, and learn about their sustainable farming practices. The best time to undertake the Chepang Hills Trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These months offer pleasant weather, clear views, and vibrant landscapes. The monsoon season (June to August) brings heavy rainfall, which may make the trails slippery and less enjoyable.

As with any trek, it is important to be well-prepared and take necessary safety precautions. Proper trekking gear, including sturdy shoes, rain gear, and a first aid kit, are recommended. It is also advisable to hike with a local guide who has knowledge of the area and can ensure your safety.
