Nepal has the majestic Himalayas, vast tectonic mountain range. One third of Himalayas lies in Nepal’s borders including eight of the world’s fourteen tallest mountain peaks. There are 1,310 peaks above 6000 meters of which 238 are open for climbing. The following are Nepalese peaks over 8000m in height and open for climbing: Mt. Everest (8,848m), Kanchenjunga (8,586m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,463m), Cho Oyo (8,201m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Manaslu (8,163m) and Annapurna (8,091m).

When selecting your personal items, keep in mind the number of days you'll be camping, the time of year and the altitude. We advise our clients to bring these items:

  • Hiking boots
  • Snow gaiters
  • Socks
  • Trekking trousers / pants
  • Windproof and waterproof over trousers / rain-pants
  • Underwear
  • Long johns (thermal underwear)
  • Fleece trousers
  • Shorts
  • Thermal base layer shirts (2 short sleeve, 2 long sleeve)
  • T-shirts or similar
  • Fleece jacket or warm jumper/sweater
  • Windproof and waterproof jacket with hood
  • Warm jacket (down)
  • Sunhat
  • Warm cap and thermal balaclava
  • Eyewear - Sunglasses
  • Thermal gloves or mittens
  • Warm and waterproof over-gloves or mittens
  • Daypack minimum 40 liters / 2500 cubic inches
  • Head torch/Headlamp with spare bulb and batteries
  • Sun protection (including total bloc for lips, nose etc.)
  •   1 Littre  Water bottles x2
  • Selection of dry bags (to keep trek bag contents dry)
  • 5 season sleeping bag
  • Wash bag and toiletries
  • Antibacterial hand wash
  • Small Towel
  • Small padlock (to lock trek bag)
  • Basic First Aid Kit including: Broad spectrum antibiotic, antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhea treatment (Imodium), altitude (Diamox), painkillers, plasters (band-aids) and blister treatment, and re-hydration salts (Dioralite).
